The fifth stage of the global human rights education program has started in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is launching the fifth stage of the global human rights education program with competitions and educational projects. During the period from 2026 to 2030, the country will hold annual “Human Rights Weeks”, competitions of research projects dedicated to pressing issues in this field of education, as well as open competitions for study and professional development abroad.
In addition, a special training program “Human Rights” will be introduced into the educational process for cadets and students of higher military and paramilitary educational institutions.
The roadmap for the implementation of the fifth stage of the global human rights education program in Uzbekistan, as well as the composition of the National Commission that will monitor its implementation, have been approved by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the document, ministries and agencies will submit quarterly reports to the National Commission, whose working body has been designated as the National Human Rights Center.
Reference. The World Programme for Human Rights Education has been operating since 2004 and is implemented in stages. At the first stage (2005–2009), the focus was on schools. The second stage (2010–2014) focused on higher education institutions and the training of teachers, civil servants and military personnel. The third stage (2015–2019) focused on media representatives, while the fourth stage (2020–2024) was dedicated to youth. The fifth stage, launched in Uzbekistan, will run from 2026 to 2030 and is aimed at expanding coverage and introducing new educational formats.Earlier, at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, during the high-level segment of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, the concept of the “New Uzbekistan” in the field of ensuring and protecting human rights and freedoms was presented.
